Guide to Homes for Sale in Country Club Hills

Arlingtonians know that one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Arlington is the exclusive community of Country Club Hills. With an abundance of green space, an exclusive country club, sidewalks and beautiful homes, it’s easy to see why residents stay in the neighborhood for many years. The spectacular single-family homes are just the first piece of the puzzle of why this section of Arlington is coveted by so many.
Country Club Hills on a Map
Country Club Hills’ location is ideal, situated just about a mile west over the Potomac River from Washington, DC over the Chain Bridge. Beginning at the intersection of N Glebe Road and Military Road, Country Club Hills continues south down Military Road, west over the limits of the Washington Golf and Country Club, back north up N Glebe Road, and then back east on N Glebe Road to the start of the neighborhood at Military Road.
Homes for Sale in Country Club Hills
With the exception of three townhome neighborhoods, Country Club Hills housing inventory is made up of single-family homes. Many of these homes are sizable, with five bedrooms or more and a considerable amount of square footage. Like most of Arlington’s single-family neighborhoods, Country Club Hills has a diverse mix of real estate styles, including Tudors, Colonials, ramblers, Craftsman, Cape Cods, and even Spanish-style residences.
The townhome communities in Country Club Hills are just as stately as the single-family houses. The three main developments in the area are Chain Bridge Terrace, The Glebe, and the enclave of townhomes on Richmond St N that backs up to Glebe Road Park.
Things to Do in Country Club Hills
Arlington is a Northern Virginia town that’s grown so much within the past decade, making for plenty of entertainment options. Although the neighborhood itself is strictly residential, there are some cool spots to check out right outside of the community. Lee Heights Shops is located about a mile from the southern edge of the neighborhood. This shopping center has a group of local retailers and restaurants, mixed in with some national chains, such as Arrowine & Cheese, Lemon Twist, and Pastries by Randolph. There is also commercial development on nearby Lee Highway, which has nearly everything that you could need, including a Harris Teeter, hardware stores and a couple of small eateries and shops like District Taco and Elevation Burger. The excitement of neighborhoods along Metro’s Orange line like Clarendon and Ballston are also nearby and are easily accessible by car.
Enjoying the Great Outdoors in Country Club Hills
One of the neighborhood’s most popular recreation options is the Washington Golf and Country Club, which acts as the southern border to the neighborhood. However, if you’re not currently a member, it can certainly be a trying process gaining membership at the exclusive club. In addition to a hefty initiation fee and sponsorship from current members, there is also a 2+year waiting list. Luckily, there are tons of other recreation options right in the neighborhood, the most notable being Glebe Road Park. This 4-acre park has a playground, tennis courts, a basketball court, picnic tables and lots of green space. There also is a nature trail that leads to the Gulf Branch Nature Center, which provides environmental education programs and events for all ages. Fort Ethan Allen Park is right next to Glebe Road Park and has a gazebo, playground, basketball court and dog park.
Traveling Around Country Club Hills
Most Country Club Hills residents use cars as their primary mode of transportation. Luckily, the neighborhood is within close vicinity to many major access points. Glebe Road, one of Arlington’s major arteries, is a main road in Country Club Hills, which also leads to Lee Highway and I-66. The community is also very close to George Washington Memorial Parkway and the Chain Bridge, with both providing access into Washington, DC. On the way to DC, the Potomac Heritage Trail is yet another way to get from one place to another. This trail that runs along the Potomac is a great spot for runners and bikers, and eventually leads to the Key Bridge, Custis Trail, and Mount Vernon Trail.
Making Your Home in Country Club Hills
Country Club Hills has remained one of Arlington’s most exclusive neighborhoods, and it looks like it will stay that way for years to come. The combination of unique, yet stunning homes, a location with plenty of recreation and entertainment options and accessibility to DC, create the perfect environment for those looking for a more suburban lifestyle.
